to my eyes.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s just a small sample of some of the funnier ones.<\/p>\n<p>I hasten to add that I\u2019ve never come across anything like them during my experience as a <a href=\"http:\/\/shaneblack.ie\/weddings\/\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">wedding entertainer<\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u2013 and hopefully I never <strong>will.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/giphy.com\/embed\/fdhaNAZRxrz2w\" width=\"480\" height=\"342\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>The mother who didn\u2019t want to let her son go too easily. <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Mothers of the groom are often lazily stereotyped as wanting to interfere in the wedding plans.<\/p>\n<p>And making sure that their precious son is cared for exactly as his Mom has been doing for decades.<\/p>\n<p>But maybe the stereotype still exists, as this tale from a client of mine reveals.<\/p>\n<p>The mother of the groom had been a bit difficult to deal with during the planning process.<\/p>\n<p>She was constantly poking her nose in where it wasn\u2019t exactly wanted \u2013 or needed.<\/p>\n<p>After the bride and groom both sat her down and told her a few home truths, it seemed that she\u2019d finally got the message.<\/p>\n<p>Until the day of the wedding, that is!<\/p>\n<p>Rather than wearing the outfit that she\u2019s agreed to wear (in keeping with the overall colour theme), she chose to turn up wearing a white formal gown.<\/p>\n<p>She even went so far as to incline a small fascinator-style veil.<\/p>\n<p>And as if that wasn\u2019t enough to draw attention away from the bride, she sobbed loudly throughout the ceremony.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/giphy.com\/embed\/5tfqrT0dpyWccUreLb\" width=\"480\" height=\"602\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3><strong>The translator who was lost for words.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>We live in a global village these days, and more and more Irish people are getting married to people whose first language is not necessarily English.<\/p>\n<p>And to make sure that both sides of the wedding party understand what\u2019s going on, more and more couples are using the services of a professional translator.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, in this particular case, an Irish woman was marrying a Polish gentleman, and the young couple had written their own vows.<\/p>\n<p>They were very tender, very romantic, and very heartfelt.<\/p>\n<p>So much so, in fact, that when the young female translator looked to turn them from English to Polish, she broke down in tears.<\/p>\n<p>She was blubbering like a mad thing for a few minutes till she regained her composure.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/giphy.com\/embed\/65NO1TrKrJUT6\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>He didn\u2019t just say that, did he?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>It&#8217;s bad enough when the best man drops a clanger during the wedding speeches and accidentally references the groom\u2019s previous girlfriend rather than the current bride.<\/p>\n<p>It could happen to a bishop!<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s much worse, however, when the faux pas comes from the groom \u2013 and when it happens on the altar.<\/p>\n<p>In this particular case, there was a certain degree of latitude for the groom as his former girlfriend was called Annette, while his bride was Anna.<\/p>\n<p>You can see how those brain cells got mixed up in all the excitement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/giphy.com\/embed\/yfEjNtvqFBfTa\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Veils. Candles.
